Yes, we’re Couchsurfing. And yes, this is definitely a budget trip. But every now and again we are blessed with meeting some fantastic hosts who own hostels/hotels and out of the kindness of their hearts, let us stay for free. Sri Lanka Travel – A Handful of Helpful Tips

Let’s start with some Randoms!

  • Don’t buy weed on the beach. Undercover cops will bus’cho ass. It’s what they do.
Yeah, that’s me, being over the top ridiculous about our romper purchase
  • Watch out when you go dress shopping! We specifically asked for dresses, picked them out, and even had straps sewn on (we didn’t pack strapless bras). Imagine our confusion when we were struggling to put them on and discovered that they weren’t dresses at all! But rompers with elastic around the knees!

Colombo, Sri Lanka – Journal Entry

Bandaranaike International Airport. Arrival time 3am. We hit the restroom, purchase our visas, make our way through customs and grab my pack at the baggage claim. We activate the Dialog SIM card we were given upon arrival and reach out to our CouchSurfing host, only to find out he is far less accommodating than we expected. So we are left to fend for ourselves, with no easy way of figuring out transportation into the city or a place to stay for the night. We’re jetlagged, disoriented, and alone.
